THE ASK

Migrate and consolidate content from two existing sites into a new site that we were to design and implement on Adobe Experience Manager.

OUR GOAL

Create a site that would serve as the content hub for all users coming in from the campaign landing site and other ads/crosslinks across social media platforms – primarily LinkedIn.

Create an experience that would support the client’s content strategy and address the needs and goals of two very different audiences.

MY ROLE

I was a UX Designer on this project with my UX Director acting as my sounding board, interpreting client feedback, and providing some overall strategic direction.

I completed an assessment of the existing sites, competitor site analysis, sketched/mocked up wireframes, created prototypes, annotated wires, completed a content inventory, audit, and assessment, and did some minor taxonomy work (card sorts). I also worked on presentation decks.

A PEEK AT MY PROCESS

RESEARCH

Worked with UX Director to assess how our client’s competitors were handling their content websites and features that were included.

INITIAL SKETCHES

We started with sketches and quickly moved into Axure to communicate the design ideas to our clients.

WIREFRAMES ROUND I

It was important to our clients that we note any new components vs. components used based on their design pattern library.

WIREFRAMES ROUND II

After designing our initial primary pages, we started creating secondary pages. Including an updated article page, a "what is" page, and a more extensive category page.

We ended up doing multiple rounds of wireframes beyond this iteration because of all the new stakeholders that joined the party as the project progressed.

CONTENT AUDIT
& ASSESSMENT

Analyzed the content inventory of existing content for the new site and pulled out meaningful information for our clients to use.

NEXT STEPS...

The site has gone live, but we are now working on integrating more with the rest of our client's site ecosystem and web presence. Our site is now also being considered for being the home of all campaign landing pages, so we are still busy at work!

Given the tight timeline of our project, given the extra time we have now, we are building out the minimum lovable product instead of just the minimum effort product.

We are...

  • Re-assessing the most important features

  • How to truly utilize AEM's suite of tools to benefit our client and guide users to the desired interactions (buy, contact sales rep, etc.)

  • Re-assessing the overall visual design - some image dimensions looked great in wireframes, but take up too much vertical real estate in reality.

  • Thinking of our site in relation to the other sites/tabs around it. Now that our client wants us to be further integrated into the overall ecosystem, we are taking the time to think of the all up site and content strategy across all channels.
